Sarina Serovski - Director

Sarina is an experienced safety leader having worked across regulation, manufacturing, logistics and construction. A subject matter expert in OHS and DG, Sarina has developed, maintained and monitored safety systems to drive performance and improve workplace culture.

Sarina’s previous experience includes over five years working in a variety of technical and leadership roles at the Victorian WorkCover Authority (WorkSafe). Sarina’s work as Project Manager of the complex remediation of the West Footscray fire site contributed to her nomination as one of Victoria’s emerging Top 50 Public Sector Women through Institute of Public Administration Australia (IPAA).

Since the successful completion of WorkSafe’s intervention at the West Footscray site Sarina has worked on various Major Hazard and Dangerous Goods projects including legislative change and inspector training. Sarina also worked in the independent Internal Review Unit which is regularly called upon to review decisions made by WorkSafe inspectors under the Occupational Health and Safety and Dangerous Goods legislation. This experience gives Sarina an invaluable insight into WorkSafe’s regulatory interventions and its review mechanisms.

Prior to joining WorkSafe Sarina spent over twenty years working in the manufacturing and logistics sector in engineering, leadership and safety roles. During this time, Sarina worked on the development and maintenance of safety systems; improving safety performance in the workplace by developing and implementing programs focused on improving culture through behavioural change.

Sarina takes a practical approach to health and safety and seamlessly combines her knowledge of operations and health and safety to design business solutions which reduce risk without compromising on operational effectiveness.

Recent Experience

Sarina’s recent experience includes:

West Footscray Fire Site Remediation, Vic

Project managed complex regulatory intervention and remediation project, applying contemporary risk management to reduce risk to employees and the community during removal of over 6500 tonnes of dangerous goods, completing project under-budget and ahead of schedule.

Construction of Hazardous Waste Treatment Facility, Vic

Oversaw the construction of a new hazardous waste treatment facility; engaging with contractors, Comcare and EPA Vic to ensure timely delivery of site works and regulatory approvals.

Paper Manufacturing Facility, Vic

Worked with manufacturing leadership team on building internal incident investigation capability.

Logistics Company, Vic

Developed and implemented injury prevention and reduction programs which led to >50% reduction in Total Recordable Injury Rate

Hazardous Waste Facilities, Various (Vic/SA)

Assessed hazardous waste facilities against OHS/WHS, DG legislation including post fire incident investigation for a hazardous waste handling site.

Major Hazard Facility (MHF) Licence Verification/Auditing, Vic

Led audit teams, assessing OHS and dangerous goods legislation compliance.
